John Burglund

John Burglund currently serves as a Director and Office Manager for WallacePancher Group’s (WPG) Cranberry Township office.  WPG is an Engineering and Environmental service company working in the energy, land development, landscape architecture, and natural resource sectors. He started with WPG when it was a small two-person firm operating out of a basement and has been instrumental in its growth to a firm with five offices in Pennsylvania and Ohio. 

John has focused his work since 2003 in the coal sector, working primarily with longwall mining companies in Greene and Washington Counties.  John’s group of scientists and engineers has collected stream flow and biological data for over 500 miles of stream, delineated over 18,000 acres of land for wetlands and other aquatic resources, and prepared state and federal permit applications for underground mining, coarse refuse disposal sites, boreholes, airshafts, and other surface installations. He began serving on the Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania Coal Alliance in 2014, and currently serves on the Executive Committee. He has represented the coal industry in testimony before the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s Citizens Advisory Council (CAC) and the Pennsylvania Independent Regulatory Review Commission (IRRC). He also has been active in the Washington County Chamber of Commerce since 2011 and became the Board Chairman in 2020. 

From 1999 to 2003, John was employed by ms consultants, inc., a multi-disciplinary engineering firm where he worked as an Environmental Planner on the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the PA Turnpike Commission’s U.S. 22 to Interstate 79 section of the Southern Beltway. 

John is a 1998 graduate of Slippery Rock University with a B.S. Degree in Environmental Science and a minor in Biology. He also attended the Pennsylvania State University from 1991-1995, majoring in Secondary Education with a focus on Biology and Ecology. 

He volunteers at Hope Lutheran Church in Cranberry Township, PA where he has served as Council President and as a football coach and Board Secretary for the Seneca Valley Jr. Football and Cheer Association. His hobbies include woodworking, hiking, and reading.
